GLOSSARY:

Bangle: solid round or oval piece worn around wrist.

Bracelet: fluid piece made of individual links / sections worn around wrist.

Choker: close fitting neckpiece worn snug around neck.

Torque: solid, snug fit neckpiece with open back.

Studs: earrings with post, usually not dangly.

Hoops / creoles: rings of any size worn as earrings.

9ct / 18ct / 24ct gold higher carat = more intense colour = higher price.

Stainless steel: popular metal especially for men’s jewellery and accessories.

Titanium: very hard wearing and extremely light (material also used in aircraft parts). Hypoallergenic, can be worn by people who are allergic to other metals .

Platinum: very hard and rare white precious metal, therefore expensive, but the best you can get.

Diamonds: well, you know what they are…. a girl’s best friend.

Rhodium plated: white gold originally has a beautiful grey hue to it, some designers prefer to leave it in its natural state. More commercially you’ll find that white gold is plated with rhodium (a hard white metal) to give it a whiter appearance. Be aware that in the course of time it can wear off, especially with rings, and might need replating.

Chains: standard lengths = 16 and 18 inch

Ring sizes: standard ladies’ sizes = J – O / standard gents’ sizes = P – Z

How to get correct ringsize: have it measured professionally.

But if it needs to be a surprise:

DO’s: - if possible, borrow person’s ring and bring to the shop.

- you could try on your fingers, but this is not always accurate.

DON’Ts: - draw circle inside or outside the ring on paper.

- use a piece of string or strip of paper

If you still get it wrong, no problem, we will exchange it for a different size!
